This is a side project for me in addition to my full time job as a teacher, so I mainly get to work on it when my teaching load is low (like over holiday breaks). My guess is the next release will either be in January after the winter break or early May after the Spring semester winds down. Over last summer, and in my spare time since, I have coded so far the following improvements beyond version 5.0.4:
  • Modified index format to reduce file size.
  • Changed what kind of things are stored in the index dictionary to improve performance.
  • Added support for multiple simultaneous crawls using a channel mechanism.
  • Added support for periodic download of external vlogs to wiki page resources (support m3u8 downloads).
  • Added support for 360 and 360 3d, 180 and 180 3d photo resources as part of wiki pages.
  • Added support for for intergroup naming of resources.
  • Fix bugs in using Yioop as a library with composer.
Things I will probably code before the next version:
  • Refinements and documentation for the above.
  • Improve crawling of video sources.
  • When Yioop is run as its own server rather than under Apache, nginx or httpd, provide support for virtual hosting of different Yioop instances.
  • If I am feeling more ambitious, implement HTTP/2 for Yioop's built in server (Yioop can already crawl using HTTP/2).
